Looking for something different to do in Maui?

As a travel agent at Travel to Maui and resident of Hawaii I like to find fun and unique things to see and do here in the islands.

This weekend was no exception. I relaxed at the Spa Grande at the Grand Wailea enjoying the scented baths, jacuzzi, and waterfall showers, plus the wonderful mango scrub.

I also checked out the zip line tours swinging from tree tops on the 9 line canopy tour with Piiholo Ranch.

On Sunday I relaxed outside at the most beautiful setting you could ever imagine for a polo game.

Zipline on Maui

There are many fun things to do when you are visiting the island of Maui.

Zip lining is one of the more thrilling things you can do while you are here in Hawaii!

As a Maui resident and travel agent at Travel to Maui I make it my goal to get out and experience first hand the many hotels, resorts and tours available. This weekend I tried Piiholo Ranch Treetop Canopy Tours.

This 3 hour tour is held twice daily 7 days a week. I did the 9 ziplines and 4 bridge tour. It felt like you were Tarzan and Jane swinging via the tree tops, hanging from tree houses in the beautiful "upcountry" Maui!

Piiholo Ranch Tours offers 3 canopy tours and 4 zip line tours on their unique adventure course.

Not looking for a zip line tour but still would like to enjoy the peace and quiet of upcountry Maui? Piiholo Ranch offers horseback riding tours for the beginner or advanced rider.

Cheap things to do in Hawaii for free or under $100!

Do you plan on visiting Hawaii soon and are looking for ideas of fun things to see and do? Well look no further. As your guide to Hawaii I will point out some of the highlights of our Hawaiian Islands.
This includes Maui, Kauai, Hawaii, Oahu, Lanai and Molokai.

Written by Marie Glodt Travel to Maui

As a Hawaii Destination Specialist and a resident of Maui I hear all the time “Hawaii is so expensive!”This may be true when comparing the islands of Hawaii to smaller towns in the United States. But when you compare Hawaii to other world class resort areas we are actually a great bargain!

Fun things to do for free in Hawaii:
1. Hike Diamond Head Crater on the island of Oahu.
2. Learn all about the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor.
3. Stop by the Koloa rum factory on the island of Kauai and have a free sample of rum (must be 21+).
4. See an active volcano on the big island and watch the lava flow into the ocean
5. Visit Iao Valley on the island of Maui
6. Take a day trip to Hana and see all the beautiful waterfalls that Maui has to offer
7. Watch the water gush out of the blow hole on Kauai’s south side of the island
8. Hike a dormant volcano at the Waimea Canyon on Kauai
9. Akaka Falls on the big island of Hawaii is a quick 10 minute walk to 2 of the prettiest waterfalls on the island.
10. Check out the monster waves at Haleiwa on the north shore of Oahu!
11. Swim at Hulopoe Bay on Lanai in front of the Four Seasons Manele Bay and see the spinner dolphins
12. Opaekaa Falls is a breath taking waterfall located on Kauai. It is an easy drive from anywhere on the island.
13. See the sunrise on Maui atop Haleakala Crater at 10,000 feet.

Here is list of fun things to see and do in Hawaii for $100 or less!
1. The Maui Ocean Center has a great shark tank that surrounds you from top to bottom, jelly fish in a tank with a black light shining on it, and so much more!
2. Hike down and back up the Kalaupapa Trail (3.2 miles each way) on the island of Molokai
3. Visit our only official state residence of royalty in the U.S at Iolani Palace’s on Oahu.
4. Attend a luau. This is a great show, with drinks and dinner and available on all islands.
5. Go to a concert and see your favorite performers up close in our smaller venues and stadiums
6. The Shangri-La Museum is Doris Duke’s residence on Oahu and a fine arts museum!
7. Sail on a romantic dinner cruise at sunset!
8. Whale watch and check out the Humpback whales that call Hawaii their home from December-April.
9. Take a surfing or hula lesson and impress your friends when you get home!
10. Polynesian Cultural Center is located on the island of Oahu and it is great way to learn about the culture of Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand and Samoa.

Luau in Hawaii

Written by Marie Glodt Travel to Maui

As a travel agent here in Hawaii I am often times asked by our clients "should I attend a luau?"

My answer is always yes! I think they are a "must do" when you are here in the Hawaiian Islands.

Luaus are about 3 hours long, around $100 per person and include your drinks, dinner and show.

If you have never attended a luau before I suggest a Polynesian revue. This will include the dancing from the island of Tahiti, Hawaii and the fire knife dancer from Samoa!

If a more traditional luau is your liking then a Hawaiian hula is suggested. Here on Maui one such luau would be the Old Lahaina Luau.

Most luaus are 5-7 nights a week and many sell out weeks in advance. So make sure and book your luau when you confirm your Hawaiian vacation plans.

What are the benefits of using a travel agent to book my vacation to Hawaii?

I see it all the time in blogs, comments online and chat rooms?
Why should I use a travel agent if I can book it online?

I find all too often people only post comments on online or write letters when they have something negative to say. Our clients at Travel to Maui make it a point to write us and rave about their vacation packages to Hawaii! There are many reasons why our clients rave about their holiday in Hawaii!

1. Our travel agents are trained as a specialist in your desired location. Not only have our travel agents passed the required tests to become a Hawaii Destination specialist, our Hawaiian travel experts have first hand knowledge of the location you are visiting.
2. Our client’s expectations are fully addressed during your consulting appointment. Our consulting appointments generally last up to 60 minutes. During this time we will be covering the pros and cons of every property we offer that fits within your requested budget.
3. We will show you real life pictures during your consulting appointment! We will show you “current” pictures taken by a travel expert at Travel to Maui. Not some stock photo taken at “low tide” or a photo taken 20 years. I like to joke with folks it is a lot like online dating. You don’t always get what you see when you shop online!
4. When you book with Travel to Maui you are not just another honeymooner in Hawaii or a confirmation number of someone who booked online. Travel to Maui is a leader in the Hawaii vacation packages. We work closely with our local travel partners to make your stay extra special!
5. When you book your travel package with Travel to Maui we offer a “risk free cancellation policy” to protect your travel investment.
6. Travel to Maui is a Hawaii travel agency located on the island of Maui. This speaks volumes when you are looking for insider tips on where to stay, the current weather conditions in Hawaii, the best beaches in the Hawaiian Islands, what to see and do when in Hawaii, and so much more!

Need more reasons to hire the experts at Travel to Maui? Please read the comments below from a few of our 2010 clients.

My experience with Travel to Maui was nothing short of exceptional. For our wedding we had guests flying in from a three countries in addition we had planned several events over a few days. Nikki and I got back home yesterday and wanted to say thank you for the excellent job you did in planning our trip to Hawaii. The entire honeymoon was phenomenal, we loved both Maui and Kauai. We especially appreciated the special touches including the printed menus at Mama's Fish House and the other extras you arranged. We will definitely recommend you to our friends that are coming to Hawaii and will call you to plan our next visit, which will hopefully be in the not-too-distant future.
Thanks again. Nikki & Matt Darin Boston, MA

Well we are back at home in Canada and all depressed - its hard to believe we have gone from bathing suits to parkas! The temperature today is about 30 ° F so that is quite a drop from Hawaii weather.

In any case, we just wanted to thank you for arranging a great vacation for us - we all had a really good time and the accommodations were perfect! Well thanks again for the great vacation - we are definitely planning to go to Hawaii again (hopefully within the next 5 years) and will contact you to make arrangements.
Sue Fleming Edmonton, Canada

We enjoyed exploring little beach areas around the north shore and some funky, off-beat surf towns along the highway. The Polynesian Culture Center was a "must" if you're going to be on Oahu.

Thank you Marie for knowing us so well and what we love and helping to make so many wonderful things happen!

We had such a fabulous anniversary trip! Thank you for all you do to make things special!

We can't wait to come again! Next time....longer! Best wishes, Amy & Brent Christensen Utah

I just wanted to let you know how fantastic both hotels were to us. The view from our room was spectacular, and the staff was very friendly, and the service was A+, while we relaxed by the pool staff constantly made sure we had all we needed comfort wise, and the spa was great too.
Thanks for all the work and help, my trip was fantastic, and couldn't have gone any smoother! Joe & Stephanie (Valentine) Litzinger Columbus, OH
